Maison Interlude House (MIH) is pleased to announce that it will continue to operate Hawkesbury Friperie. The public can rest assured. The second-hand store will remain open!      

Many people have heard of the impending closure of Hawkesbury Friperie and have expressed their dismay and even shock. This news comes on top of the closure of another thrift store, in L'Orignal. MIH would like to reassure the community! It is with great determination that our team of volunteers will take over the operation of the thrift store. From now on, all funds raised will benefit the organization that has been helping women victims of violence in our region for over 40 years.

“When we heard that Hawkesbury Friperie wanted to transfer the thrift store to another organization, we quickly volunteered to take over. We already operate our own thrift store, Boutique PastELLE in Alexandria, since 2020. As we already had the in-house skills to manage this type of business, we lend a hand without hesitation,” explains Muriel Lalonde, MIH General Manager.

New Name, Same Location

The thrift store will therefore be closed for a short period (from September 21 to October 7) to allow for the transition of administration. And of course, when it reopens, it will be known as Boutique PastELLE, like the Alexandria location. The best way to keep abreast of sales at both boutiques is to visit their Facebook page! You'll also find opening hours for both boutiques.

The MIH team would like to highlight the exceptional work of all the volunteers who have been involved with Hawkesbury Friperie over the years. A very special thought goes to Mrs. Marcelle Ménard, who expertly ran the thrift shop for many years. MIH would also like to thank the Friperie de l'Orignal for donating equipment that will be very useful to both stores.

Volunteers Needed

Several current Hawkesbury Friperie volunteers have expressed an interest in continuing their involvement with Boutique PastELLE. And the organization is very grateful! However, other volunteers would be greatly appreciated in either of the Hawkesbury or Alexandria boutiques.
