Maison Interlude House (MIH) is proud to announce the results of its 2023 fundraising campaign. Never before has the community been so generous towards the organization, a message of support that goes straight to the heart of the entire team.
MIH unveiled the total amount raised at its December 6 benefit evening, coinciding with the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Held at Alexandria's Bonnie Glen Pavilion, the event brought together 130 guests wishing to support Interlude House. Last year's campaign generated a profit of $42,000. It was therefore only natural that the organization set itself the goal of surpassing the $50,000 mark this year. But thanks to the generosity of the community, that goal was shattered.
Over $87,500 to help women victims of violence
"It's incredible to receive such a message of support from the people of our region! For our organization to raise $87,500 is unprecedented. To see our work recognized in this way is heart-warming. I also believe that our efforts to raise awareness on violence against women are also paying off. Although we're celebrating 40 years of existence this year, the public is becoming increasingly aware of our organization and its mission," explains Muriel Lalonde, MIH's Executive Director.
The organization would also like to thank its two honorary co-presidents: Geneviève Lajoie, Mayor of Casselman, and Francis Drouin, Member of Parliament. Their involvement and unfailing support for MIH also contributed to the success of the 2023 campaign. The money raised will be used to offer related services to MIH users throughout the coming year. These services are not subsidized, but are nonetheless essential: the purchase of essential goods to enable a fresh start, financial assistance in emergency situations, transportation, babysitting, Christmas gifts for the whole family during the holiday season, etc.
